This is why medicine will no longer attract the best and brightest. Come spend 17 years of your life to train, assume all the risk, take on enormous debt and get paid less than most trades these days. It’s hard to believe we allowed this. We are Medcine, Surgery, but somehow we turned our profession over to suits and allowed them to control us,get paid more than us and in many cases go work for them instead of ourself 🤷♂️
Why do we fix patella fractures? Aren't they just small bones? Check out our findings in over 3000 patella fractures in a single institution. https://t.co/eK4VuXWS00

Olecranon fractures are uncommon in children and no clear guidline exists for operative vs non operative treatment. Our most recent paper looks at the largest series on this topic. Great work by @ro_ro1024 https://t.co/rIahpq6Dat
Bonjour, it’s a great day to check our new paper about BMI Effects on Lower Extremity Fractures Surgical Fixation Outcomes! @DpereiraMd

I’ve been lucky to co-author a few papers, but these ones stand out - an incredible team, a great mentor, and a lead author I’m truly proud to work with. Go Zina!!! 🫶
Our latest study leveraging a large retrospective national database and the impact of GLP1 and fracture care.
Important to start looking at general associations (this study) and then go deeper with future, better clinical studies.

Great study! LLMs are going to become the go-to place for medical information by patients. How do they perform when answering questions on clubfoot treatment?
Large language models are replacing the search engines when patients needs medical information. Our recent article reports on the use of LLMs for questions on clubfoot https://t.co/GwXai26wfE
I am thrilled to have received the Lee T Ford Award for Academic Achievement. This prestigious award is given to a faculty member with the highest academic impact. It’s humbling to look at the prevsious award recipients which are among the who is who in orthopedic @WashUMedOrtho
In 2023, the U.S. spent approximately $1.35 trillion on healthcare administration. That’s more than we spent on:
•Physician salaries (~$350B)
•Nursing salaries (~$335B)
•Retail prescription drugs (~$450B)
•Imaging, lab tests, EHRs, and outpatient procedures combined
•Even capital investment in hospitals and equipment
All the while, clinicians are being told to “do more with less.”
Every cost-saving initiative aimed at doctors adds layers of compliance and complexity which only fuels the unchecked growth of bureaucracy.
So excited to finally share the results of our study on risk of VTE after lower extremity fractures in children and adolescents published @jbjs. A relatively novel topic that should be studied more @WashUMedOrtho@POSNA_org … https://t.co/5ARE3OUnwW
It’s great to see 3 of our papers published in this month’s issue of the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics. 1- Effect of Anxiety and Depression on narcotics use after peds fractures 2- Novel Risk Factors for Perthes 3- Vitamin D and SCFE development https://t.co/PRfEZUHPsz
. @OrthoRes_WashU@WashUMedOrtho PGY-4 Dan Pereira discussing orthopaedic surgeon compensation trends at @AAOS1 annual meeting. A true natural on the podium.
👀 Ortho is second only to neurosurgery in terms of the frequency of performing overlapping surgery
What is the current understanding of overlapping surgery in ortho as it relates to patient outcomes/perceptions? @VUmedicine@DPereiraMD#OrthoTwitter
