@metoffice And how far do your records go back relative to the existence of the planet ?. Answer - A very short period but you chose not to tell the public that important fact. If you had any credibility at all you would put your statistics into context but you deliberately chose not too.

@GavinPartridge That's worrying as I believe ECMWF are considered to be one of the more reliable models for medium term forecasting. You said it yourself Gav, getting the anticyclone to retregress to Greenland isn't that easy or simple. We mustn't give up yet. Keep our faith in Mother Nature.

@GavinPartridge As you have forecast correctly yet again, Winter has arrived early in Norway. I keep an eye on the live webcam at Finse railway station and they have a full blown blizzard at the moment with plenty of laying and blowing snow........Lucky them !

@danholley_ The rain gauge in my garden at Dussindale, near Norwich has recorded just over an inch of rain in the last 24 hrs. I'm sure the farmers and growers will be both relieved and delighted.
