105 years ago today โ May 31, 1921 โ horror came to Tulsa.
A thriving, self-made Black community known as "Black Wall Street" was brutally attacked by white mobs in one of the most devastating acts of racial violence in American history.
They burned it to the ground. Hundreds of Black-owned homes and businesses โ symbols of pride, prosperity, and hard-won success โ were looted and reduced to rubble. At least 36 Black residents were murdered, over 800 were injured, and thousands more were left homeless, their dreams and life's work destroyed in a single night of terror.
A community that had risen against all odds was violently crushed. We remember Greenwood. We remember the lives stolen. We remember the pain that still echoes.
Blake Bolden, this queen made history as the first Black woman to play professional hockey ๐ฅ
She suited up for the Boston Blades (CWHL) and Boston Pride (NWHL), won the Clarkson Cup and Isobel Cup, captained at Boston College, and represented the USA on gold medal teams. Now sheโs a Pro Scout for the LA Kings, the first Black woman in that role in the NHL plus a Growth & Inclusion Specialist and analyst on Prime Monday Night Hockey.
From pioneer on the ice to opening doors in the front office and broadcast booth ! this is Black excellence breaking the ice and taking no prisoners.
โSooner or later, all the peoples of the world will have to discover a way to live together in peace.โ
Let us be inspired by the non-violent action initiated by legendary figures like Martin Luther King Jr. to "make the world a better place".

This weekend on MSNOWโs #AlexWittReports, I joined Alex to discuss the growing concerns around the White Houseโs so-called โprayer festivalโ on the National Mall and the danger of mixing exclusionary politics with faith.
Faith should bring people together, not divide them. America is home to people of many faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs, and no political movement should attempt to monopolize religion while ignoring the very teachings they claim to defend. You cannot take Christ out of Christianity while excusing behavior that contradicts the principles of truth, humility, justice, and compassion.
We also discussed the continued fight for voting rights following the recent Supreme Court decision weakening key protections under the Voting Rights Act, and the importance of continuing the legacy of Selma and the movement that changed this nation.

Let us condemn discrimination, violence & racism. Say #NoToRacism and #NoToHate.
An 18-year-old just did what billion-dollar water companies couldn't.
Meet Mia Heller.
A high school junior from Warrenton, Virginia who built a water filter in her garage that strips out 95.5% of microplastics from drinking water.
That's better than most government treatment plants, which sit somewhere between 70% and 90%.
Her secret weapon? Ferrofluid. A magnetized liquid made of oil and powder that latches onto microplastic particles. Then a magnet yanks them out. No membranes. No constant filter replacements. No endless maintenance bills.
The ferrofluid even gets recycled, around 87% of it, in a closed loop.
The spark for all of this wasn't a classroom project. It was a local newspaper article warning that her town's tap water was loaded with PFAS and microplastics, and that nobody was coming to fix it.
So she watched her mom swap out filter after filter and thought, there has to be a smarter way.
She built the prototype herself. Tested it with a homemade turbidity sensor. Then walked into the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair and walked out with a special award from the Patent and Trademark Office Society.
Up against nearly 1,700 students from 62 countries.
She's now eyeing a household version that sits under your kitchen sink.
The future of clean water might not come from a lab in Silicon Valley. It might come from a teenager's garage in Virginia.

On this day in 1896, 130 years ago, the Supreme Court handed down Plessy v. Ferguson and gave legal sanction to the lie of โseparate but equal.โ That decision helped entrench racial segregation for generations. The Supreme Court has gotten it wrong before, and when it does, the consequences are profound.
In this moment, as voting rights are again being weakened, we must remember that justice cannot depend on courts alone. We must stay vigilant, organized, and committed to protecting our rights and our democracy.

I love seeing these young Black Kings cross the Winston-Salem State University stage in style! But before they set out the hop, they put in the work and earned every honor they deserved. Excellence and Brotherhood go hand in hand! ๐๐ #OmegaPsiPhi
