All the tensions that have been bubbling under all season are forced out into the open

@JustcallmeVodka There IS no Listen monster. The whole point of the ep is that there is no monster but the one we make for ourselves. Every time, the ep gives us the mundane real world explanation, we've just been trained to dismiss it, and so has the Doctor. But it was just a kid from the home

@BadWolfArchives I love lines like "he owes me a favour, never mind why" and "she's looking better, shorter obviously" because they're totally unnecessary but just open up so many questions and ideas. What happened? Why is she shorter? I need to know!

It's bringing out all the simmering tensions and rifts that have festered between the crew all year into the open to be dealt with before the season enders

@petertrek1 @jmswallow These books could make their own TV miniseries. They take all the little factoids about the Occupation revealed throughout TNG, DS9 and VOY, and weave them together into a coherent storyline that feels like it was planned all along. Very well done!

Alien 3 and AIDS
When Alien 3 was released in 1992 there was no treatment for HIV; condoms and abstinence were the chief means of prevention.
More than 100k people had died in the US alone.

I do actually agree with this, it's probably the correct interpretation. I just don't think it actually came across very well on screen. If this was Chibs' intention, the fact that you had to piece it together out of subtext and occasional lines wasn't the best way to go about it

@BadWolfArchives I think it's a disaster myself. Chaotic gibberish. Billion ideas thrown at the wall with not enough time spent to allow any of them to actually land. Thank god Moffat calmed down a bit as time went on. Only part I like is the line "I'm the bloody Queen, mate. Basically, I rule."

@Tigfore Her human name is Ruth Clayton. "Ruth" means "friend" in Hebrew. "Clayton" means "of the Earth" or "mortal" in auld English. So her name means "a mortal friend of the Earth", rather perfect for the Doctor.

Finally, there is already a #Trill junior officer on board the #USSEnterprise in #Insurrection, so this makes use of that. You could even cast the same actor from Admiral Dougherty to play #Vaughn. It all fits perfectly. So please let me know what you think! 6/6

It introduces #Ezri, who will be DS9’s new counsellor in s7, and #Vaughn, who will be DS9’s new XO in s8. It has villains and a plot that matter in the larger scheme of the #StarTrek universe, and battle scenes that are emotionally relevant instead of just random firefights 5/
