True Legend! (On the field) 😂
Before Joe Burrow won his Heisman Trophy in 2019, (and Jayden Daniels in ‘23), Billy Cannon was the last LSU Tiger to win one one…a full SIXTY YEARS earlier in 1959.
97 days and 97 yards of pure Cannon lightning!
In 1957, LSU sophomore Billy Cannon took a kickoff 97 yards to the house against Texas Tech in a 19-14 win — one of the longest kickoff returns in Tigers history.
That same game he also caught a 59-yard touchdown pass. The play helped launch the legend who would win the 1959 Heisman and lead LSU to a national title.
So much fun working with LSU & Lutcher pitching legend Jared Poche last night!
We’re all set to do it all over again tonight for Game 2 of the State Semifinals Playoff Game between Lutcher & Rayne!
Nothing like having LSU's all-time wins leader and a former Louisiana Mr Baseball/Gatorade POY/Lutcher State Championship MVP Jared Poche' back home on the VSN broadcast with Scott Alexander
Lutcher leads Rayne 5-0 in the 5th inning
D2 State Semis Game 1 @Jared_Poche16@DScottAlexander@LutcherBaseball
I think I may have gotten a wee bit too excited calling this HUGE game-winning (and Series-ending) hit today in the HS Baseball Playoffs…🤣
PS It was the 3rd & deciding game in this thrilling playoff series which were all won dramatically in extra innings!
Loads of fun! 🎊🥳🎉
YES!!! Two days of rain have turned this into a Saturday playoff doubleheader at 11am & 2pm….
And again on Sunday if a rubber match game is needed.
#VSN#LetsPlayTwo
He won more games than any pitcher in LSU history
He led Lutcher to a 2013 4A State Title as Louisiana's Mr. Baseball, and tonight Jared Poche' returns home to work color with veteran PxP man Scott Alexander for Game 1 of Lutcher's Quarterfinal matchup w/West Fel ➡️ https://t.co/6UyRz3nVwK
Ok, you're investigating a picture of shells. You've been at it for six months. Talk to me about month seven of this investigation. You wake up and you go where?
@alittleleader Yes, he is definitely all ours!! And all ages too! I’m 60 years old & moved away for 30 years before coming back over a decade ago…and I’m still quoting “I’ve got a catch in my neck…and feel a little diz-zee” from a 1970’s Morris Bart commercial! That’s staying power!

If ya wanna a deep dive on my buddy Dan Whitney aka. “Larry The Cable Guy”well here’s your chance. You’ll have to sit thru a few technical issues with their zoom as he was mobile going from Tennessee to Alabama on his bus, but Steven & Heath really got the scoop on how he became the King of Blue Collar Comedy! We’ve been friends a long time and @GitRDoneLarry is as loyal and kind as any “A Lister” in the Entertainment World. Anytime our 🏈or 🏀crew is in Lincoln his doors are always open. My man @devingardnerXCI knew him more for his being the voice of “Tow Mater”in the movie CARS, but he got the full Larry The Cable Guy/Dan Whitney treatment as did our entire crew last year. His bull raising business is REAL and he’s helping a lotta folks (as usual) with it!
