Senior military officials described the mission to recover the downed airman as “one of the most challenging and complex in the history of U.S. Special Operations” — a testament to the brutal terrain, the gravity of the airman’s injuries, and the relentless pressure of Iranian forces racing toward his position deep in the mountains of Southern Iran.

For more than 24 hours, the Weapon Systems Officer defied the odds. He evaded enemy patrols, pushed through exhaustion, and at one point clawed his way up a 7,000-foot ridgeline on sheer will alone. He refused to be taken.

Above him, U.S. attack aircraft carved a path of fire, hammering Iranian convoys and buying precious time for the men moving toward him on the ground.

They were coming.

SEAL Team Six operators, supported by the full weight of JSOC, closed in on their man. Weapons were raised, positions were held, and Iranian forces were kept at distance through precision, discipline, and the kind of cold resolve that only the world’s most elite warriors carry.

No one was left behind. The mission was accomplished.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 How much is one American life worth? Yesterday, the U.S. military answered that question on Iranian soil. Priceless.

Two MC-130J special ops aircraft landed deep inside Iran to extract the injured F-15 pilot and rescue team.

Both became stuck in the soft desert ground south of Isfahan.

With Iranian forces closing in, the U.S. made the only decision they could: blow them up, rather than allow Iran to capture them.

Each MC-130J costs over $100 million.

Four MH-6 Little Bird helicopters used in the mission were also intentionally destroyed, and three additional aircraft had to fly into Iran to complete the extraction.

Iran claimed they shot them down.

But they said the same thing in 2011 when Navy SEALs blew up a Black Hawk chopper during the bin Laden raid.

The rescue succeeded. Both crew members are safe. The colonel who evaded Iranian forces for two days in the Zagros Mountains while wounded is alive.

The aircraft are gone. The pilots are home.

Worth it.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 In a jaw-dropping move, the U.S. set up a “remote base” deep inside Iran to rescue an F-15 pilot.

This forward outpost wasn’t just anywhere, it was just outside Isfahan, Iran’s heavily fortified strategic hub packed with missile sites, army installations, nuclear facilities, and the airbase housing the F-14 fleet.

The U.S. went about 300+ miles inside Iran, just ~230 miles from Tehran, right into the Isfahan–Qom–Natanz zone, one of the country’s most sensitive zones with major nuclear facilities nearby.

They even brought an old Iranian airstrip back to life for the mission… temporary, precise, exactly where it was needed.

The mission stayed simple the whole time: get the pilot back. Even with losses, that didn’t change. They went in deep, landed, fought, and got out with the objective complete.

That’s how far they went to get him back.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 BIG | A senior Trump administration official told Axios that before locating the F-15 Weapons Systems Officer (WSO) and launching the rescue operation, the Central Intelligence Agency initiated a deception campaign inside Iran.

As part of this effort, information was spread suggesting that U.S. forces had already found him and were moving him on the ground for extraction out of the country.

➡️ The official stated that the Central Intelligence Agency used its unique capabilities to search for and locate the operator.
“This was like finding a needle in a haystack, except in this case it was a brave American hiding in a mountain crevice, practically invisible without the CIA’s capabilities,” the official said.

According to the official, the Central Intelligence Agency immediately shared the pilot’s exact location with the Pentagon and the White House.

The U.S. President then ordered an immediate rescue operation, which the Pentagon carried out, while the Central Intelligence Agency continued to support the mission with real-time intelligence.

BREAKING: Details of special forces rescue operation to save American Pilot deep into Iranian territory:
-Downed airmen after being shot down lands near Talkhuncheh and immediately actives emergency GPS, proceeds to hike 24 hours 5miles up a 2000 metre mountain to evade capture where he remains hidden for 12 hours.
-US special forces locate him and realise Iranian convoys are closing in and begin to engage said convoys with large AirPower, meanwhile US special forces MH-6 helicopters and C-130s are disputed, and land 10 km south east of him to build a makeshift airfield.
-Soon after this several MH-6s successfully fly to the top of the mountain and pick him up under small arms fire, and reach the makeshift airfield. Classically two C-130js meant to evacuate Delta and injured airmen get stuck in the mud.
-US airforce begins massive suppression campaign on nearby Iranian units, whilst special forces team hunker down for three hours eventually being saved by three AFSOC Dash 8 aircraft meanwhile blowing up remaining C-13Ojs and MH6s aircraft to avoid capture.

Both crew members of the downed F-15E Strike Eagle are now safe and out of Iranian territory.

Here's what happened:

The weapons systems officer ejected with the pilot when their jet was struck Thursday night.

While the pilot was recovered quickly, the WSO used SEER training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) to evade capture for 48 hours.

He hiked away from the wreckage, hid on an elevated ridge, and activated his emergency beacon.

Iran had put out a reward for his capture. It became a manhunt with Iranians racing to reach him first.

The rescue operation was massive and costly:

A fierce firefight with Iranian forces.

Two U.S. helicopters were hit, crew members injured.

An A-10 Warthog flying suppressive cover crashed in Kuwait.

Multiple aircraft had to be destroyed.

The WSO sustained significant injuries but is now safe.

This was the most complex combat search and rescue operation since the start of the war. U.S. special operations went deep into Iranian territory, fought their way in, and fought their way out.

Pentagon is withholding further details due to operational sensitivity.
