So proud of the team that put together our first ever DTC Ramadan Iftar event for our families, friends and wider community this evening. Seeing our students read from the Quran and share reflections on the purpose of Ramadan was incredible. @DixonsTC@DixonsAcademies
Today saw our first ever Arts Festival - Ascend. An amazing celebration of the arts at DTC. So proud of all students who showcased their dedication to the arts and we were honoured to have Arthur France MBE in attendance. Thank you to all that came and supported! @DixonsTC
@Dixons_cfg Today marks 8 years since I joined DAT and I feel proud to be part of this programme. Looking forward to the opportunities and discussions we’ll have next year as well as networking with other Senior Leaders in Dixons. A fantastic opportunity.
Today our amazing technician, Miss Frederick, ran the first Creative Arts Ambassador’s meeting. They have their certificates, badges and art packs to keep to recognise the hard work put into applying for this role. Today’s first task; plan events for DTC Culture Day! @DixonsTC
A selection of Year 10 GCSE sweet paintings in progress. Students have been working hard on mixing colours and creating textures. We’re looking forward to seeing these complete and on display soon. #hard work @DixonsTC
Today Diane Edwards and student ambassadors from Leeds Arts University visited to run a fantastic workshop. Yr7-10 students created portrait collages based on their identity and had great fun learning new skills and building confidence in art. Thank you @LeedsArtsUni! @DixonsTC
Part 2: Accompanying our poppy installation, students have made prints, paintings, collages and drawings to commemorate Remembrance Day. They have worked hard to create fantastic pieces of work and you can see them on display in our academy reception. @DixonsTC
Part 1: This year we are marking Remembrance Day with our first poppy installation in the grounds of the academy. Every Yr7 and Yr9 GCSE artist has a clay poppy on display alongside some from a staff workshop. We hope all our families and visitors enjoy this display. @DixonsTC
Today it was our Student Leaders presenting House Morning Meeting. Yr11 handed over their duties to the incoming Yr10 leaders as they now prepare for mocks. Yr10 launched the first recognition event of the term; a pizza and film party for Aconcagua who are in the lead! @DixonsTC
Huge thanks to @jonny_brownlee for coming to @DixonsTC earlier today to personally gift a fleet of bikes to our primary students. They can’t wait to ride them in PE lesson and at break time. Big thanks to @brownleefdn for their support of our next generation of cyclists 🚴🏾♀️🚵♂️
One ECT observation left to complete this half term; it has been an absolute pleasure to conduct these. Watching our new colleagues to the school reminds me of the importance of consistency, warmth and routine in the classroom. Our students are very lucky to have them. @DixonsTC
To help tackle AO3; Yr11 photocopied, enlarged, experimented with filters and floated flowers in water as part of recording their initial observations. Looking forward to seeing these initial ideas develop into outcomes for their mock exam next month. @DixonsTC
Today Year 11 sanded and prepped their plaster cupcake sculptures ready to decorate in the style of artist, Pip and Pop. Can’t wait to see what tempting treats they create for our installation! @DixonsTC
🏝️ 🎉 Although it’s been a bit grey today, the new Reflections of Carnival mural in Chapeltown has brought some vibrancy and colour to Leeds! The work that Rhian Kempadoo-Millar, @enkyro & @alanpergy & many others have put in to make this happen has been superb!

The first 7 of approximately 140 clay poppies finished for our November installation. These are a selection from our new Yr9 GCSE art students as part of their induction onto the course. We can’t wait to see them on display! @DixonsTC
This lesson made my day - my new Year 10 GCSE art group. We’re getting to know one another through working with clay. Making clay burger tiles; decorating them with marks and textures. Next week we’re making chips! #loveclay@DixonsTC
We had a fantastic morning celebrating the immense hard work of students in our founding year group. We wish you every success in the next step on the journey to the top of your mountain.
