Congratulations to @ScientificRuvvy, the first graduate student in the Detroit Trauma Project to earn her PhD!
We are incredibly proud of you, and have been honored to work alongside you for so long. We can't wait to see what you will do next, Dr. Grasser!
@tjovanovic_phd have been innovating in this work. If you remember #Pavlov’s dogs, it works similarly! Scientists can measure fear and what leads to individual differences in who learns fear, how much response to fear there is, and who is able to determine safety vs. danger.
One way to think about #PTSD is that it makes it difficult to control our fear response. Given that PTSD occurs post-trauma and fear exists across mammals, researchers have bench to bedside tools to better understand PTSD and PTSD treatment.
