@the_chongster Yeah Satoshi was a pretty clever person (or maybe group, who knows) given they were able to develop a system to manage human behaviour that is inherently selfish but align it in a way that is beneficial to the community (great use of game theory!).

In a study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, researchers applied mathematical tools typically used to study relativistic phenomena to investigate consciousness.
They discovered that when measuring the same phenomenon from different frames of reference, different physical properties emerge due to distinct points of view.
For instance, when two people, Alice and Bob, measure each other's brain activity, they observe different properties.
Bob measures Alice's brain activity with his sensory organs, revealing only the neural activity representing her consciousness.
In contrast, Alice measures her neural activity directly through interactions between different parts of her brain, manifesting a different kind of physical property – the conscious experience.
The researchers suggest that the brain doesn't create conscious experience through computations but rather through the process of physical measurement.
By using mathematical tools that describe relativistic phenomena, the theory demonstrates that if the dynamics of two individuals' neural activities were the same, they would share the exact same conscious experience.
The implications of this theory are vast.
It could help determine the first animal in the evolutionary process to have consciousness, pinpoint when a fetus or baby becomes conscious, identify which patients with consciousness disorders are conscious, and assess whether any AI systems possess a low degree of consciousness.
With these insights in mind, researchers now plan to further examine the minimal measurements needed for a cognitive system to create consciousness.

While previous research focused on the brain's role in time perception, psychologists at Cornell University discovered that heartbeat intervals can impact our perception at the millisecond level.
Participants wore electrocardiograms to measure heartbeat lengths while estimating the duration of brief audio tones. Astonishingly, longer heartbeat intervals led to longer perceived tones, and vice versa. After each tone, heartbeat intervals lengthened.
@SdSadeghi, the study's lead author, explained that a slower heart rate helps perception, as the heart's beats create "noise" for the cortex.
This study reinforces the idea that time perception is a network involving both the brain and the heart.
Time perception became a hot topic during the Covid pandemic, with lockdowns causing many to experience distorted perceptions of time.
One British study found that 80% of participants reported such distortions, with older, isolated individuals feeling time slowed down, while younger, active people felt it sped up.
