@CountBraface@sam__avery Perhaps because his explanation is aimed toward helping Americans understand why British people (and the world) care about what the US is doing. Hence using their terminology helps?
@JAH2022s @EJ_McGuinness@CarolineLucas It’s not a non sequitur—Caroline argued against Luton expansion exactly because 90% of its flights are for leisure. That’s a critique based on individual behaviour. She can’t also dismiss criticism of her own long-haul flights by saying individual actions don’t matter.
@CarolineLucas I’m sorry but this kind of thing is why I, and presumably many other people, wouldn’t vote Green. I’m environmentally conscious and partial to slight ‘green’ policies, but this kind of illogical, hypocritical, elitist thinking is something I can’t get behind.
@jackie80426067@ednamode1919@darrengrimes If you’re part Irish, as I am, then you should see that once these people have ‘dealt’ with Muslims, black & Asian people, etc, the Irish are next. They were happy to tear up the GF agreement for Brexit, mess with the NI border, acted like Ireland were being difficult.

Not sure what the Guardian consistently has against @jordanbpeterson. First misquoting him: ‘advocates against gender equality’, not true, he advocates FOR equality of opportunity and against mandated equality of outcome, you need to know the difference.
@shadowbann63570@TracyWSCRN@elonmusk Plus, this sends a message to China that the US will not intervene. That opens the door to Chinese expansionism into Taiwan, and then what, Japan, South Korea? Is the US going to sit on its hands as malevolent empires are built around it?
@shadowbann63570@TracyWSCRN@elonmusk Putin is rebuilding that power step by step: Georgia (2008), Crimea (2014), Ukraine (2022), meddling in Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Romania, and beyond. Each victory fuels the next, and now the US is helping. He won’t stop here. Appeasing Putin makes your children less safe.
@shadowbann63570@TracyWSCRN@elonmusk If we value life and liberty, we must defend Ukraine—not just for them, for ourselves. Appeasing Putin won’t stop him. After Ukraine, then Moldova, Poland, Finland… until Russia has grown enough to threaten the US itself. You think if you feed a lion it won’t eat you next?
@shadowbann63570@TracyWSCRN@elonmusk Disrespectful how? He’s asked for help, but that doesn’t give the US the right to take over negotiations and dictate what his red lines should be. What’s wrong with allowing him to negotiate the best deal for his country and just back him up on it?
@TracyWSCRN@elonmusk If Mexico invaded the US and occupied Florida and Texas, would you hand them over to Mexico to negotiate an end to the conflict? In reality it would never happen, of course, but in theory. Would you give away your own territory and people for a deal?
@David__Osland I’m not saying I oppose or support fixing the WASPI situation. That said, there are 650 MPs vs 3.6 million women. It’s both disproportionate and a non-sequitur.
@owenjonesjourno Why are you assuming that a war between two nuclear powers necessitates the use of nuclear weapons? It COULD happen, but both parties would have reasons to avoid the conflict turning nuclear.
@DuffWalter@toffee_tower@darrengrimes I’m going to assume, of course, that this issue doesn’t only bother you when we’re talking about working class women.
@DuffWalter@toffee_tower@darrengrimes Then I’m sure that, naturally, you were up in arms about Chris Grayling being the first non-lawyer to hold the post of Justice Secretary for 440 years? You’ll be glad to hear that Labour’s incumbent, Shabana Mahmood, is indeed a qualified lawyer. 👍
