“I am first a Christian, next a catholic, then a Calvinist, fourth a paedobaptist, and fifth a Presbyterian. I cannot reverse this order.” —“Rabbi” John Duncan
In The Practical Divinity of the Papists proved destructive to Christianity and men's souls, David Clarkson (1622-1686), who succeeded John Owen in his pulpit, critiques the popish view of both doctrine and practice, holding it up to the light of Scripture.
This piercing polemic remains relevant in our present day of confusion and compromise within the church, and is very applicable also to modern antinomian tendencies within evangelical and Protestant circles also.

@Heidelblog01@RScottClark@heidelcast@HeidelbergRefo1 I’m not defending papal foreign policy, but this is classic motte-and-bailey: quote Calvin’s duplex regimen, then act as though objections to R2K are objections to Calvin.

@mattandersen23@michaeljknowles Protestants affirm both that justification is by faith alone apart from works (Romans 4) and that faith without works is dead (James 2:20). Those two doctrines are entirely consistent with each other.

Update :
After posting negative reviews on Facebook, X, Yelp, and Google, as well as filing complaints with the BBB, FCC, and FTC, Spectrum Mobile eventually credited the full amount of the buyback for the two phones to my account. I appreciate that they ultimately honored the buyback promotion. However, there are still unresolved issues that should be addressed for a fully satisfactory resolution.
1. No Reimbursement for the Third Line and Device
When I initially signed up, I was told I qualified for the promotion without any mention of needing a third line. Only later did I learn that adding a third line was necessary to qualify for the buyback. Despite being misinformed at the outset, Spectrum did not reimburse me for the cost of the third line and device, which I had to add retroactively to meet their terms. I believe this reimbursement would have been part of a fair and complete resolution given the circumstances.
2. No Compensation for Time and Effort
Resolving this issue required significant time, effort, and frustration on my part. Unfortunately, Spectrum did not offer any compensation or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused. A goodwill gesture would have gone a long way in demonstrating accountability and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.
While I am grateful that the buyback was eventually honored, it’s clear that Spectrum Mobile only acted appropriately after facing significant public pressure and formal complaints. This remains one of the most difficult and unpleasant customer service experiences I’ve had. Because of that, I would hesitate to recommend Spectrum Mobile unless their customer service dramatically improves.
