🚀 sei-network:native joins Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana in the U.S. regulated perpetual futures market.
The new USD-settled contract operates 24/7 without expiration under a CFTC-regulated exchange's self-certification framework.
BNY and Citadel Securities just completed the first tokenized Treasury repo on a major triparty platform, settling in minutes instead of the usual T+1.
Citadel bought a two year Treasury on Tradeweb, BNY recorded a tokenized version on its private ledger, then Citadel used that token as collateral for an overnight cash loan from BNY. Full loop, settlement and financing, both running on the tokenized version.
Here's the honest complication, Ledger Insights raised it directly. BNY already clears $24 trillion a day in triparty repo, and if both sides of a trade are its own clients, it can settle that trade across its own books in real time with or without a blockchain. So the real question isn't whether this worked, it's why BNY needed a token at all to do something its existing infrastructure could likely already do.
Worth separating the milestone from the explanation for it. A first on a major platform is real. Whether it's actually faster than what BNY already runs is still an open question nobody's answered yet.
