The “I had to pay mine, why should someone not have to pay theirs” argument against student loan forgiveness is so asinine. First of all, half of the people I hear making this argument are 40+ and likely faced less than half the cost of in-state tuition as compared
to banks that engaged in predatory behavior like sub-prime lending. Student loans amount to $1.7 trillion in collective debt today. Are we seriously saying that the future of our workforce isn’t worth twice the excused negligence of corporate baking institutions?
