Bags packed with nearly £300,000 in cash inside. But the only place he’s going is jail. 🔒

On Friday 24 October 2025, Philip Aryeetey was driving on the M57, when he was stopped by our officers. Following a search of his vehicle, they discovered a padlocked suitcase stashed underneath the driver’s seat which contained £299,440 in cash.

A search of his home was carried out which led to the seizure of a further £2,000 in cash, as well as 65 grams of cocaine and a taser.

Aryeetey, 55, of Tanhouse Road was sentenced to three years in prison, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing criminal property, possession of a controlled Class A drug with intent to supply and possessing a prohibited firearm.

The investigation was carried out by officers from Merseyside Organised Crime Partnership – a joint Merseyside Police and National Crime Agency team dedicated to tackling serious and organised crime in the county.

This was a significant cash seizure and shows how our officers will leave no stone unturned when it comes to stopping people involved in organised crime.

We will relentlessly target anyone who brings fear and harm to our communities, while safeguarding the innocent victims of their actions.
