@RealGreyMage This is a tough one, because I loved (LOVED) everything about this movie. It felt like watching Lord of the Rings in a theater again like I did as a kid. But the single complaint my friends and I all had at the end was the animation quality wasn’t the best. Dealbreaker? Depends

Why men are compelled by the example of Boromir: a short essay.

He is the oldest son, asked to do too much, by a father who cares too little. Doubt and temptation haunt every footstep as he quests with the Fellowship. Surrounded by strangers, who've told him he must help them do the one thing he knows he cannot do.

Again and again, Boromir's appeals that the One Ring be taken to Gondor, are deflected. Even the other man among them who should best understand, reveals his distrust. Until, in his moment of greatest anger and despair for his nation, Boromir betrays himself, as he betrays Frodo.

The awful anguish! Boromir's heart is crushed for himself and the fate of all. He weeps, done in by his own mortal folly.

Except, suddenly, the foe is upon the Fellowship. And one last chance for bravery presents itself. Merry and Pippin!

Courage, mixed with rage, powers Boromir. With the strength of many men, he jumps in. To stand athwart. And battles the Uruks. Until too many arrows pierce him, and his body can stand no more.

There, at the last, surrounded by the enemies he's vanquished, Boromir confesses his sin to his lord, now acknowledged. And his lord absolves him. While reassuring him that his country shall not perish.

So, Boromir, son of Denethor, passes. At last validated by an authority greater than himself, and greater than his father. It *is* enough.

And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. (picks up blanket, puts thumb in mouth.)

Wishing PTSD on someone is fucking awful. I understand everything is political and left vs right and we all apparently hate each other. But for 2 seconds can we just stop wishing death & horrible shit on each other?
