I diagnose non emergencies when I can but my primary job is to diagnose or rule out emergencies. The vast majority of people coming to the ER not only have no emergency but don’t even think they are having one. They come entirely because nobody else is willing or available.

@reverendofdoubt I do it mostly because I find that it gets referenced more and more often and I feel like I needed to have some sort of functioning knowledge from which I could respond to people’s comments on it. Most specifically in my case medical students/premed students.
