@thecockburn@NTBCC@theSpurtle@EdinOldTownCC I would definately support the music school idea! Maybe they could let us rent a hall as I hear nearby Abbeyhill primary could really use more after school care!
@DaycareChnForum Put pressure on the government to lift the bubble restrictions by the end of this term opposed to in time for the new school year which appears to be the current plan. We want to be able to offer more summer holiday club spaces without having the challenges of kids in bubbles.
@HappydaysOsc@NicolaSturgeon@SOSCN@MareeToddMSP Our clients, our children, our staff, the communities we serve and our businesses deserve better than this. Loads of tweets about awesome ELC staff being back on Monday totally ignoring a big subsector which isn't.
5 years ago, @NicolaSturgeon sat on my sofa and talked about the importance of good quality childcare. Today, my after school club business remains closed to most clients with no end in sight & we're not even included in the strategic plan. The industry faces disaster.
@SOSCN@MareeToddMSP@MonicaLennon7@PrimaryPlayCare@ELCScotGov yet again no mention of school age childcare? If P4-7 return 15th March can we open our services too? to all children & not just key workers & vulnerable kids? Our industry is always last to be considered
@soscn have already written very clearly outlining the situation faced by the out of school care sector. Excluded from grants, insufficiently funded for keyworker care, many have already closed and many more will. Let us open or support an industry which many parents rely on
@Simon_BFC@SOSCN@MareeToddMSP@ELCScotGov Yes the communication was poor - we (along with most others) found out from twitter. The families we serve rely on us and the entire sector is very fragile right now as @soscn have outlined clearly. We need clarity and support.
@PrimaryPlayCare@SOSCN@MareeToddMSP@JohnSwinney Agree entirely, OSC has been treated very poorly and is frequently just not even mentioned. Our parents rely on us as an industry and if this continues many will not be there after lockdown.
@frustratedbev@ELCScotGov It's over a week since the announcement of "grants" for providers who open but still no clarity on amount, timing etc. I know several forced to close because it's not viable to open for a handful. We want to help clients but 10 months in few can afford to run at a loss.
@ELCScotGov As OSC are now required to close, an adjustment of the business support grants is needed. Many/most OSC do not operate from rateable premises (many uses churches for example) and therefore are not eligible for the closed business support grants. This needs to change @soscn
@ELCScotGov Why on earth was this not covered in the statement? Childcare providers are trying to make plans and decisions for clients and staff, and we have to find out from twitter that we're being forced to close even though T4 allows us to open?
It's been a long 5 months, but we can't wait to welcome our families back to Daddy Daycare! Good luck for those starting back to school, childcare and work today!
@SOSCN That was my best guess too, but it's not at all clear and needs to be questioned and clarified very quickly. The lack of clarity of language, and understanding of the diversity of this sector, has been a total disgrace
@SOSCN John Swinney's response to a question today indicated that after school "clubs" may not be allowed to reopen with schools. Do you have any clarity on what he means here - regulated OSC providers are already permitted to open!
@Laura_M_1988@MareeToddMSP@ELCScotGov@jencarnageian@StaceyEBurns Exactly, this brings no clarity. Parents now know we can open theoretically but we can't really take bookings or plan as no idea re capacity restrictions. I feel OSC have been poorly supported throughout this and treated like an afterthought.
@MartinGilmour29@SOSCN it's very poor - services are in a position of parents being desperate for us to reopen but no idea what rules will be, and therefore of capacity.
