Just had a very nice evening at my home with Cui Zhiyuan, Adam Tooze, Chen Long, Huang Haidong, Grace Zhou, and Wang Qing. I think we managed to resolve most of the world's problems, although it might have been the beer.
@simonlam98 Watched “Dogs of War” (BBC1, 1992) on British mercenaries fighting in the Yugoslavian Civil War last week, depressing and downbeat as well, highly recommended. Old BBC documentaries tend to be more compassionate with their bumpy texture.
Really looking forward to reading this new article.

I am both delighted and honoured to join the American Historical Review as an associate review editor. My goal is to enhance the representation of Asian scholarship in this incredible journal, found in 1895. Thanks again for having me on board. @AmHistReview@lsehistory

Which Russian past is relevant today? In my piece, I reflect on how the experience of the early 17th century should be taken into account. It both weakens Putin and make his rule last. https://t.co/i26a3UqeEP
