@bluwolfblitz I think they could stand to play with his look though. Maybe longer limbs? A game with a more stylized art style? I’ve always loved the round curve SA1 Sonic’s quills had, I’d love to see a modern take on that.
Not to “improve” on the current, just to try something new.
@dick_leake@_VioMarks_ We have a good idea of what happened/is happening though. It’s a lot of engine changes that require restarts, and very picky standards that lead to content being redone.
That and it’s being worked on slowly through free time.
So there’s been a lot in the way.

He kept saying it would “harm Dess’s character”, despite… her not even appearing in the game yet and having nothing to harm…
@StickmanSham I think the arrows are *fine.* Not perfect, but they’re consistent enough that you can get a feel for them, and you don’t really need much more then to know to keep attacking and a vague idea of how close you are.
It’s simple and does what it needs to, even if not perfect.
@bluwolfblitz Is your intention to be faithful? :o I've noticed that texture packs- heck, even the official HD remaster- opt to use completely different textures with new shading, colors, etc. that feels out of place when compared.
I yearn for the day someone makes a proper HD remaster lol

They're obviously teasing *something.* They want people to guess what it is. And this is meant to be some sort of hint I'm sure? So even if it's stock, I'm sure they're self aware.
@xChRl5_100@CoolBlued_ Rail grinding has less going on. In the classics, you *relied* on slopes for speed, but you don't with rails since gaining speed in SA is easy. And you don't really get to carry that speed around or launch with rails.
Automating rails sucks, but isn't that different in practice.
@xChRl5_100@CoolBlued_ Momentum is a range I suppose. In Sonic Adventure, you didn't really earn speed through utilizing the level and maintaining momentum like in the classics- your movement starts fast and you can spindash/homing attack.
Rails have always granted speed too tbh, just hold B on one.
@CoolBlued_ And a lot of that flawed execution is simply because it's such a new idea for the series.
...because it's not simply chasing a trend, it's innovating.
Sure, there's some modern trends in there. But inspiration and imitation are very different, and we'll see it continue to evolve.
@CoolBlued_ I'm confused. Frontiers takes after BotW in aspects on the surface, sure, but in how it plays, it's not really comparable beyond being open-ish.
Shadow Generations follows the same formula and people loved it.
The issue with Frontiers wasn't direction, so much as execution.
@CoolBlued_ Not to mention, this is so dismissive of one of the earliest 3D platformers out there. They've now shifted major formulas twice now. That's not "trend chasing", and the ultimate solution isn't just "Make it like classic Sonic", as if classic is the end-all-be-all of Sonic games.
@CoolBlued_ I'm not sure what you mean. This isn't a recent issue- again, it dates back to the Adventure games.
But the thing worth understanding is that Adventure onward wasn't trying to capture the feel of the classic games.
And that's fine. Not being classic Sonic isn't "trend chasing."
