165 years ago in 1861, my 3rd great-uncle Oscar enlisted in the Union Army. Serving in Co. A, 2nd Mass Inf. 15 months later, he was mortally wounded at the Battle of Cedar Mountain dying the day before his 20th b-day. On behalf of a grateful nation, thank you PVT Oscar Spaulding.

@Scott_Spaulding What an amazing legacy your Dad has left for your family to continue. I’m sure he was greeted in heaven by our 9th great-grandfather Edward with a hardy “well done”!

@Scott_Spaulding So sorry to hear this news. May the Lord God cover your family with his grace and mercy as you grieve your loss. Our Spaulding family in Texas will be praying for you.
