Seeing my new book, Essentials of Residential Property Management, on the shelf at Barnes & Noble was a reminder of why I wrote this book.
It’s more than a milestone — it reflects the growing need for practical, operations-focused knowledge in real estate & property management.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.
Change has never been easy. It takes persistence and determination, and requires all of us to speak out and stand up for what we believe in. As we honor Dr. King today, let’s draw strength from his example, and do our part to build on his legacy.

Today, I’m pleased to announce the launch of https://t.co/DLpVpnsuOv, the Government of Jamaica’s official platform to coordinate relief, mobilize support, and manage recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.
The site allows users to donate securely, submit pledges, report emergencies, and locate nearby shelters. It is designed to serve Jamaicans at home and abroad who wish to assist with national recovery efforts.
Please remember, if it doesn’t end with .gov.jm, it is not an official Government of Jamaica website.

Housing doomers are out in full force this week, hyping up minor upticks in mortgage delinquency data like it’s 2008 all over again. Reminder: Real estate is hyper-local.
Some markets are correcting, others are thriving. Be cautious of cherry-picked data and fear-based narratives. The U.S. housing market remains fundamentally healthy.

Housing doomers love to post content about a “crash” in Florida’s real estate market—pointing to rising total inventory as proof. But what they fail to mention (or deliberately leave out) is that condominiums make up the overwhelming majority of that inventory, especially in markets like South Florida.
That distinction matters. The condo market is facing unique structural challenges—skyrocketing insurance premiums, costly special assessments, tightening financing conditions, and stricter reserve requirements. These issues are not equally affecting the single-family home market, which operates on different fundamentals and demand drivers.
If you’re going to call out the numbers, be honest about what those numbers represent. Otherwise, it’s not analysis—it’s just fear-mongering.
I am all for cutting gov costs, then and now. I'm even more for efficiency
I would have a plan. Ready Fire Aim is not a plan.
Cutting programs without knowing if they would have saved taxpayers more than they cost, or saved lives, is a mistake
Tariffs, cutting programs, agencies and employees ALL AT ONCE, without doing an analysis of the impact on city, towns and states they impact, is going to backfire big time
Some cities have 9 pct or more of their employment as federal workers. Colleges losing millions in funding. Gov contractors and grant recipients having to close their businesses and lay off everyone.
Repeated in city after city. Town after town
What do you think the economic impact on their tax base is ? What do you think happens to home values ? What services will they have to end ?
What about the local businesses ? How many people will lose their jobs and homes because this was done ALL AT ONCE
Cut federal government bloat in an organized fashion and it's great.
Ready Fire Aim and the uncertainty it creates is a huge mistake
The DOJ is unfairly targeting #AI technology that was designed to assists landlords in determining an accurate market value for their rental properties, considering multiple data points, such as availability, taxes, insurance and other fees, to suggest a rental price. @MiamiHerald
