For the 110th time, the journey to the Indianapolis 500 begins today. Every lap means something as what’s learned this week may be the difference between racing immortality or a “decent points day”. Let’s be honest though as this is the big one, this is the one race drivers imagine winning from the first time they held a wheel. A decent points day in a top 10, isn’t enough. Only one driver gets there face on the Borg Warner and only one driver gets the best glass of milk imaginable. The story of the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 starts getting written today. Welcome to Indy. Welcome to May. It’s time!
Today the motorsports world lost one of its fiercest competitors and kindest souls. Greg Biffle was a champion on the track and a humanitarian off it, whose impact reached far beyond racing.
We also mourn the loss of his wife Cristina and children Emma & Ryder, along with Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and his son Jack. My heart is with all their families and loved ones.
Heartbreaking news out of Statesville. Beyond his success as a NASCAR driver, Greg Biffle lived a life of courage and compassion and stepped up for western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. My heart goes out to all those who lost a loved one in this tragic crash.
