Reminds me of the Flemish Government initiative to merge some administrative districts to improve the service and reduce complexity.

All while Brussels is a mess made out of 19 little kingdoms and 6 police zones.

Replace Democrats with French speakers and Republicans with Dutch speakers, and this theory will very well apply to Brussels.

Not that the French speakers don't have kids, but they are more progressive, while the Dutch speakers are rather conservative.

Okay I’ve finally got the occams razor explanation for why pretty much every single city in the US has unlivably bad crime.

It’s not because the voters are dumb or bleeding heart liberals or even because of Soros…

It’s an electoral politics nash equilibrium.

If you keep crime high, it keeps conservatives out, it doesn’t effect young liberal voters, and anyone who has a kid (which makes you more conservative) immediately leaves because the kid is more susceptible to crime than you are as a youngish adult.

So, basically, by not permanently imprisoning repeat offenders, you get a permanent local liberal monopoly.

You then combine this with federal money and increasing property taxes (which your young liberal renters don’t see) to spend money on superficially liberal activities that are basically just cronyist corruption and graft.

For the record, this is not an anti-liberal politics post. Conservatives do similar stuff.

It’s a broken system that needs to be fixed.
