@AutoPap Had a mk7 GTI and now a mk8 GTI.
Mk7 had the best, simplest, easiest to understand interior around. Iโd even say the dials were better than the digital gauge cluster in the mk7.5, and the mk7.5โs touch buttons on the infotainment were also a downgrade.
@Tumi213 I have one just like this. My mate has an M2 Comp. In the real world, on real world roads, we are both agreed the GTI is faster. Capable of sitting a decent speed and being comfortable at the same time, never scares you, still useful for a small family.
@AutoInfatuation A note for the future. https://t.co/Uyzha93Pyo is just Euro Car Parts, but with a limited range and usually some decent discounts. Saved a small fortune when I bought a few Yuasa batteries for buses last year.
@JamesLArnott I went posh and got a mk7 Golf GTI. I now have a mk8 GTI and itโs โฆ shite. VW have spent many many ยฃ on warranty claims on it, and Iโm about to go back to them again for another steering wheel because of errors flashing up randomly, again ๐ฅ
@JamesLArnott There was nothing sport about ours, but it had 13 inch alloys and a wee spoiler on the boot. That and the softest grey and black โoptionalโ seats.
@JamesLArnott With any luck, itโll have been the same utterly breathless, but dependable, 2.2D that was in my parentโs N reg Laguna. The car was no race winner, but that was genuinely the most comfortable car Iโve ever travelled in.
@modernheroestv We have some 23 plate eBerlingos at work that arenโt a kick up the bum away from 100k miles now. 7kW max charge rate most of the time, too. They seem to be alright.
@AutoPap Now that my Golf has disgraced itself, yet again, by breaking down in the 5th lane of the M8 last week, Iโm considering one of these. Iโll still be in a GTI, but one a lot simpler and probably more fun for it, too.
@AutoInfatuation Beautiful design. The choice of car for many Government cars, and the top brass in Bond movies too, which just makes them that little bit more desirable. Thereโs just something about them that sets them apart. I have a colleague who has an XJ-L and canโt look past it.
@cleanforthewknd Thatโs useful to know. Tyre reviews online are almost always conducted on a test track, at speed. 90% of a normal personโs driving isnโt that, so some โreal worldโ thoughts are useful. Better in the wet - Iโll need that, living in Edinburgh.
