@PHaynesWriter Yeah, I didn't like that either. I guess if you lean rightwards and you're not blind to the Conservative binfire, who else are you going to vote for? But kinda alarming all the same.
@musicalsuz@Ziffit Updating the app worked, although it meant my basket was lost and it didn't accept some of my items when I re-scanned them, which was a nuisance. Guess I need to check for updates before starting to scan things in the first place.

I'm glad I've managed to curb my book-nibbling impulses!

Thrilled to have reached the THAB podium with a 2nd-place prize. I've been trying my luck since 2016, and picked up a shortlisting and a couple of highly commended prizes along the way. Really looking forward to reading this year's anthology!
I'm pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 To Hull And Back #shortstory contest 🥳 You can find all the details in my latest newsletter -https://t.co/Vl9G0TUoP4
@ChloeTellsTales Thanks, Chloe. This one means a lot to me as I love writing humour and there are far too few outlets actively looking for funny stuff.
Delighted to have made the shortlist again in this fantastic competition. Time constraints have meant I've rarely entered writing contests in the last few years, but I made a special effort for this one. Contests actively encouraging humorous writing are all too rare!
I'm pleased to announce the 2023 To Hull And Back 🏍️ humorous #shortstory competition shortlist, longlist and special mentions. Whose head will end appear on the To Hull And Back anthology cover? We will find out in October... https://t.co/F19WIheiJB
@sallyjenkinsuk Thanks, Sally. Yes - I've never entirely put the pen/keyboard down, although these days I find it hard to make enough time for anything substantial. A short story every so often and keeping the novel ticking over seems to be my limit. How's your writing going?
@ChrisFielden Me too, Chris - I can't understand why people make such a fuss about what toppings should be "allowed" on a pizza. Eat and let eat, I say.
@karjon@Uksherka@timkcraig Thanks, Karen - and commiserations (but also congratulations on the longlisting in what sounds like a bumper year for the comp!). Successes and disappointments often seem to clump together for some reason. I'm sure your luck will turn again soon.
So this is how the world ends; not with AI launching all the nukes, but with it feeding us ant poison and glue sandwiches.

Whatever your thoughts on today, you should be dismayed that people were denied the right to peaceful protest, with banners conviscated and arrests made. It shouldn't require extraordinary courage to stand up for your beliefs. This isn't Russia.
Astonished by the number of people prepared to camp overnight on the streets or stand for hours in the rain in the hope of seeing a man wearing a special hat.
