Because I'm procrastinating, I did some quick math:
-average US salary is $66K
-if we exclude top 1% of earners (~1.7 mil people), average US salary drops to $54K
-if we exclude top 2% (~3 mil people), average US salary drops to $49K
People are poorer than averages suggest.

So I’m watching a tv show set in 2012, and like, I know hipsters wore fedoras a lot then, but did we really wear that many fedoras?! Or is a fedora just a convenient visual cue that something is taking place in 2012?
@sgbuggs Also, women wear skirts to interviews all the time. Now, I wouldn’t wear shorts to an interview, but as a women who doesn’t wear skirts, how are shorts any different really?
@ZephyrTeachout This is huge!! People don’t realize how bad these giant hospital/medical monopolies are. My entire state is served by one giant (and awful) healthcare provider that gobbles every independent or small office out there. It’s awful for patients and for healthcare workers
