This is an excellent idea from my friends at The America First Policy Institute. It's called "Reorienting the Super Intelligence Frontier to Serve Americans."

They argue that the AI companies should commit to spending more of their compute on curing cancer instead of trying to build a "machine god" through recursive self-improvement.

I 100% agree with this.

My only concern with this project is that it makes the Caltrain extension construction harder

What they’re missing is that, while Hudson Yards is full of 1000s of the cringiest transplants imaginable, without the Hudson Yards containment zone, these folks would be all over NYC!

@MakeUSAVAT ... yes and no? It's actually far from clear to me that if China dropped all of their capital controls their currency would go up. Most of the capital in China desperately wants to not be in China and move somewhere else, which would actually imply overvaluation.

It seems that the MTA is going to try to speedrun the funding process for their proposed 125th street subway; very exciting

The MTA is proposing a new 125 Street Subway, which would extend west from the future 125 St/Lexington Av Q station. The project would connect existing subway lines—including the Second Avenue Subway—and bus routes along the corridor.
