NAFDAC is issuing an urgent update on the tragic mass illnesses and deaths recorded in Odigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State, following the consumption of locally prepared alcoholic and herbal concoctions.

As of 17th September 2026, 48 deaths and 182 cases have been recorded. Laboratory findings have confirmed the presence of methanol, a deadly toxic substance, in samples of the suspected concoction. 15 persons have been arrested.
