@OwenBenjamin I think this rings true because it is known pattern that a conspiracy kicks off with a gruesome sacrifice in order to keep everyone's secrecy. There is an account in Plutarch's Lives in the First Volume in the chapter of Publicola's life where the conspirators, the two families of Aquillii and Vitellii all got together and drank blood and ate entrails of a sacrificed man to seal their resolution to kill Roman consuls. They were overheard by their slave Vindicius who was able to to tell Valerius (AKA Publicola) about the plot. It's a good story and really lines up with the vibe of what's currently going on.

@japan_nobunaga This could be a critique on how Americans think, but we experience the time more than we experience the distance. We also very rarely use trains here so everybody just drives cars mostly. So when people ask "how far", the real question is "drive time".
