@freganmitts I write this as I am grading papers wherein some students clearly took notes on lectures and apparently did some reading, then gave their notes to an LLM to construct an essay. They can say "but AI just helped me organize my thoughts." To which I say no, you plagiarized.
@samhaselby The prblem is that people can't comprehend ambiguity. Yes, Thanksgiving gave way to genocide. Yes, Thanksgiving celebrated the Union's victory over the slave power. And yes, most people don't think about any of that, it's about family and football.
@moshik_temkin@ZhangTaisu At the Ivies, yes, but at R2 state universities, teaching definitely matters, more than it should. I love/hate teaching but, whatever, I find it taxing to be nice when no one reads the assignment. But I must be.
@SohrabAhmari Hundreds of awesome old books await. We still read every night to my 11-year old daughter (who reads voraciously herself). When we find racist tropes, we note them with sarcasm. The story arcs are worth it.
@AndrewFiggy You're right of course but even then the anti-free trade left was weak and getting weaker. An increasingly urban, PMC left liked free trade.
@CrytzerFry She played with the neighbor's infant in Colorado Springs, too! She'd literally ask to be let out of the slider when she saw the mom and baby outside, and would go frisk with the baby. Another kitty sorely missed.
@AaronRegunberg It's always "X or Y centrist candidate actually ran to the left!" but they don't specify how. Getting hundreds of thousands of $ to speak to Wall St wasn't left. Telling seniors that M4A would mean losing their health insurance wasn't left. Etc.
@ZaidJilani So why doesn't he specify that he's against the M4A as written but not against a better M4A bill? I like him but a lot less so if he won't back some form of M4A. It cannot happen if it doesn't get boosted by major figures.
@asymmetricinfo wonder if this also applies to rodents and birds looking at orange tabbies. An orange tabby usually doesn't blend into the foliage but maybe so.
@JacobAShell Makes me wonder why so much sterilization among Apaches, most of whom lived just south of Nav rez. Navajo population increased by 40-50% between 1960 and 1970.
@RodeoProfessor Lovely, also the Stuarts near where I live deserve to be a park. No rising from the Plains but they've got magnificent teeth like the Tetons. But nah, I guess they're better off just being wilderness, not as many people.
