Eventually, even digital data will no longer be owned by individuals on their own initiative. Whenever there is a major change or accident in the world, in a country, in a government, in an idea, in a trend, access to it may suddenly be cut off.
@Osint613@nikitabier I think what they’re going to learn from these studies is that the engagement bait trash accounts make the platform worse. Accounts like yours are not the problem
@TheEggman64 They could’ve used the handheld option to more naturally drive consumers who still prefer disc towards digital instead of just forcing it. Alternatively, they could have done what Nintendo is doing and used cartridges that would work on either and just charged more for the carts
Seems weird for Sony to cut physical games going into a generation where the people it would annoy are the enthusiasts they would need to show up day one for a 1,000 dollar console.
@themarszeppelin No physical for PC but at least I can buy games on GoG and back up the installer.
Game Key Cards still allow me to let a friend try the game or resell it.
Spotify is dirt cheap.
Are you doing bad comparisons for engagement or something?
People have got to get out of this mindset that if something doesn't affect them, then it doesn't matter to them. Even if you are a person that has bought only digital or mostly digital, there are still millions of gamers that buy mostly physical, and this removes that option.
@OrdinaryGamers There is probably a higher % of game sales on steam vs all other stores on pc than there is digital vs physical on ps5.
Other store fronts are effectively a non factor
