You're not wrong. Men have always found their purpose through their work, through striving to produce something with their effort and skill. With this comes the resources to protect and build your family.
Take away a man's purpose, a man's work, and you'll find a lot of lost people. I predict a large turn to the ultimate word to find purpose, the good book. May it be so. It is out there for those who seek it.
Why are we treating the Iranian regime the same way we did before we destroyed their military and sunk their navy? Before we decapitated their leadership?
Shouldn't that have changed the terms of discussion? But no, it seems we continue to negotiate as if they are peers, while praising the son of the Ayatollah as being respected?
It seems nothing but destruction has been achieved yet. Where is the benefit to America and those who seek freedom?
To the victors go the spoils. Does not seem we are the victors here, Mr. President. Finishing the task is the best path forward. You will be rewarded.
@VDHanson@CynicalPublius
I just thought I'd mention that your crying for the Fed to ease to help the $40k income people who are suffering from high energy and other costs, is ill-advised.
Tell me how someone who rents, doesn't own, and has no financial assets to appreciate, benefits from the Fed easing at a time when inflation is already stubborn?
Easing won't lower his costs, nor boost his stock portfolio. A strong economy will, which might need something other than perpetual easy money. Enough with the easy money.
You want lower rates to goose the market for all your buddies, while couching it in terms that imply you're fighting for the little guy? It's too clever by half, and insincere.
Gunther, you assume that the IRGC and regime thugs care about the experience of the average Iranian, who are the ones really suffering now.
They couldn't care less, how do we not understand that, and they will happily outwait us until our resolve crumbles?
They understand one thing- brute force, and they respect nothing else. That's how bullies are. How hard is that to conclude?
We look like fools trying to negotiate, while restraining Israel from eliminating Hezbollah, the single largest proxy ally of Iran? We're hoping for some 4th dimensional miracle at this point.
Supply and demand. When something becomes less appealing to people, they demand less of it. Living in the increasingly dystopian developed world here on earth is becoming far less attractive, so we get less demand for it.
Makes common sense to me. The further we move from human relationships and loving others as we love ourselves, the less people will desire to bring others here. I think you're not seeing this from your perch.
@elonmusk
In a more traditional American election, one would think Spencer Pratt would be attractive. But remember, these are Los Angelinos, a very different species from normal Americans.
Expecting Angelinos to value the same things we do is like expecting the Iranian extremist IRGC leaders to value what we do, or even the CCP leadership. They care about different things.
They're not motivated by the same things that average Americans are, so sadly, Spencer has no shot.
Sorry Donnie. Nobody really cares about your UFC thing on the WH lawn. The macho man crush with Dana White is wearing thin on people. People are hurting, and they do care deeply about America and our great heritage. But it's not about you.
Vanilla Ice? Seriously? We're not in the mood for celebration right now, our young are totally alienated from the vision of what we know America can be, and the old are disillusioned about you kowtowing to dictators and negotiating with lunatics who laugh at your negotiations.
Walk softly with a big stick, not the other way around. We are on war footing, there is much to be done. The celebrating can come later. Blessings to America.
Goodness Devon, that's a mouthful. Was it hard to express so much haughty condescension that way, or does it come easily?
Incredibly smart, enlightened people are rare as a cool Florida summer day. So almost the entirety of the dribble posted on the internet is by people whose views may not have merited unearthing in the days when it had to go through a social filter before it became widely heard.
Today, any fool with a keyboard can opine for all to see, so forgive us for not searching deeply for the beneficial brilliance of each author, yet let us assess the words as they are written, for that is the medium here.
If you wish to learn more about people and their humanity, spend time in person, where you can receive the entire experience, rather than the electronic expression. That is an advantage Boomers have well enjoyed. Cheers!
and I have a bridge to sell you Eric! Spans the East River. Why are you huckstering so? This sounds like an abject win for the Iranians.
We do not want the Israel- Hezbollah war to end until Hezbollah is eliminated. And no, the Arab countries are not going to rush to sign the Abrahams. You're propagandizing.
That seems a little harsh, AC. The man has done well, and sees that investing in quality Buenos Aires real estate might be as good as Miami Beach in 1950.
And America has become a bit of a he**hole for many, way too divided. However, if you're in a position to cast the first stone....
@peterthiel@elonmusk
I'm tempted to reply "waaaa waaaa" Devon. It's so last year to blame everything on the Boomers.
Heed wisdom " I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all."
Fear God and love others, the rest will come.
Not sure that's always the case, Elon. Our enemies are both, because sometimes bad ideas come from good people, true, but often not.
There are plenty of bad people who are our enemies. You may want to retract this one.
I bet it would make a big difference if we eliminated all the bad people, then we're left to fight only bad ideas. That would be FAR easier.
