@professoranne I feel like it has to be difficult too because anxiety affects people in so many different ways. How it affects me may be completely different to how it affects you and vice versa
@RingleySierra@professoranne For sure! Thankfully it was in a controlled environment where we were able to ensure safety, but it was definitely difficult to get them where they needed to be
@professoranne#SOWK654661681 I've worked with multiple people with OCD before and it is always interesting to see the range of the disorder. I have seen people mildly affected, to people frozen in place for hours due to the severity of the disorder.
@sarahbellametz@professoranne This is super interesting, and it seems to almost be "trendy" in some circles to have a mental illness, which I think is harmful. When people view mental illness as a trend, it almost takes away the credibility of those who are struggling because it is viewed less seriously.
@marissamurraySU Hopefully, as the stigma surrounding mental illness slowly goes away, more people will be educated on the disorders and how they manifest, so people with the disorders can have better treatment and care. Things seem to be going the right direction so hopefully it continues!
@Nicoleepaulinoo@professoranne It's definitely interesting, and in severe cases reminds me of schizophrenia in the way that individuals truly believe something bad will happen if they don't follow along with their compulsions.
@_1031__@professoranne It seems to mostly start showing signs in early adolescence. I haven't met anyone who was diagnosed later in life, it was usually an adolescent or young adult diagnosis.
@AlexandraMetra1@professoranne @HeatherDiehl8 Our legislative process should be visible so people can better understand what's going on. This is obviously despicable discrimination! #SUSocialWork
@ShaniquaDiggsSU You ask a very important question, especially because we have the highest rates of these mass shootings in the world. Gun law reform is necessary for the safety of our country! #SUSocialWork
https://t.co/VXPaIuZrWq As social workers, we need to continue to advocate for equality across the nation, especially when it comes to a topic as important as voting, and making sure voters are not suppressed. #SUSocialWork
@WayneRe59798071 I often wonder if we will get back to "normal" or if the masks are here to stay for good. I think more people will wear them voluntarily, even after the mandate is lifted, whenever that may be #SUSocialWork
@Jen_Ev04 Very interesting! It makes me wonder how many people are going to be biased against the AI simply because it is not a human. Still a very cool step in a direction fighting against discrimination! #SUSocialWork
https://t.co/DtN10yOY8x As social workers, we must continue to advocate for better working conditions for all, especially those in situations such as these Amazon delivery drivers. No one should have to resort to what they have in order to keep a job #SUSocialWork
@Jen_Ev04 This also begs the question of what will happen to those who were wrongly convicted and have had those years taken from them as they spent them in prison #SUSocialWork
https://t.co/DBkoxVBvPr Something must be done to help put an end to these tragedies, whether it be more restrictive gun laws or more in depth background checks to ensure the safety of our country #SUSocialWork
@JasonH147 Plus, many of these children are being placed here away from their families for a decision they did not make. I agree we definitely need immigration reform in this country, and fast. #SUSocialWork
