🚨 New preprint: Can LLMs help assess psychosis risk from clinical interviews?
Early detection is key—but current approaches rely on specialist interpretation, limiting scalability.
We tested whether open-weight LLMs can help 👇
If I was furniture, I would be a secretary desk. Full of fun facts!
Aphantasia helps me in neurobiology and clinical drug development, as concepts, pathways, brain regions, etc. are just handed up.
However, regarding episodic memory, I am more of a sieve 😂
A 1,000-year-old drug kit was found in a Bolivian cave.
Inside: five psychoactive compounds, including the exact recipe for ayahuasca.
Cocaine. DMT. Harmine. Bufotenine. Possibly psilocin.
The largest collection ever found in a single South American artifact.
None of these plants grow within 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 of that cave.
Someone was running a continent-wide psychedelic supply chain in 950 AD.
That's 500 years before Columbus "discovered" the Americas.
@JD_Rosenblat@JAMAPsych Methylone 🙃 .. haha non-hallucinogenic, true.
But it´s also a very strong rave-o-genic 🥳🥳.
Coining this a "neuroplastogen" is highly misleading and shall then apply to MDMA, as well.
@psybalazs I really don't see what's so funny in comparing the absolute changes across treatment modalities (+-therapy/dosing regimen) and indications (TRD). Wouldn't it instead be much more a amusing to compare effect sizes, odds ratios or number needed to treat?
A massive new study on peak performance included 34,000 international top performers: Nobel laureates, renowned classical music composers, Olympic champs, and the world’s best chess players. It shows early specialization is a trap, and the road to greatness is long and varied.
Can ultrasound make you smell things that aren’t there?
Turns out, yes! We reliably triggered distinct scents like a campfire burn or a garbage truck by targeting our brains with ultrasound. To our knowledge, this has never been done before, even in animals.
This may be a promising modality for writing to the brain non-invasively:

@quintinfrerichs Love this. Chance for true precision health. I just hope it's not a bit too early for that, as most science and payors are focused on treating disease. We're working on the HPA achsis, which you will probably find central for enhancement as a master energy regulator.
If a healthy and fulfilled person, blessed with cherished friends and experiences, got to run my day, I am quite sure it would look very different than the "competent" CEO.
When nature has a problem to solve, it makes a protein. Now, with the help of AI, what we used to have to do with electronics or optics we can increasingly do through biology.
Starting with the world’s most sensitive optogenetic channels.

Would be great to have a 🔙 button in @Office Outlook, to get back to that one email you have finally found after a long tedious search in your inbox - but lost it again, because you quickly checked the new urgent mail.
Something like "recently viewed" would already help a lot.
