Evaluation of Kent family group conference service by Prof Peter Marsh. 67% of children at high risk who didn't have an FGC entered care, compared to 25% who did have an fgc. If Kent didn't have an FGC service, would cost them £4.6m - £7.4m a year in additional care costs
It is easy to become a rescuer without thought for long term impact removing children from their families can have if we just keep on identifying risks. How much more satisfying it is when you get together a plan families want to engage with and you can keep them together
I think on the basis of Leeds experiences that DfE should consider a wider trial with LAs who are not partners in practice as there are so few of them. Hertfordshire are keen to try but we don’t qualify for pip status.@CathyAshley @IsabelleTrowler @JennyColesDCS https://t.co/doGoGDHMzT
In Leeds we have negotiated as a partner in practice to vary timescales for initial child protection conferences to enable a Family Group Conference to be held. We have found family plans to be robust and sustainable over a longer timeframe. https://t.co/R8BKdEd0fb
If we could extend WT timescales for s47 to case conference to allow time for a FGC before the case conference what a different proposition that would be- Isabelle what do you think? @CathyAshley @IsabelleTrowler @dez_holmes@DCSSurrey@JennyColesDCS@ADCStweets https://t.co/SrFeUvAK2R
Delighted to back @childrensociety fairer start for care leavers campaign. This week we have agreed to exempt our care leavers from council tax https://t.co/WHU6B249Tc
