Food programs in schools are a great way to see how public health helps promote healthy eating! Through public health interventions like these we can ensure that children are shown what healthy looks like while they learn. @beh353#beh353

@ounwin3@beh353 Hi Olivia, I also agree that it is essential to maintaining patients' overall health! Eating healthy can help so many people and as healthcare providers, it is our responsibility to ensure we preserve their health in all aspects!
I want to work in public health. I can use my new knowledge of nutrition as it relates to health to help implement interventions focused on healthy eating. Preventative measures that promote healthy eating are super important and have already made a difference! @beh353#beh353
Psst! Leftovers only last safely in the fridge for 3-4 days. Can’t let go? Frozen leftovers can be used within 3-4 months for best quality. #ThanksgivingFoodSafety 🦃 https://t.co/Pn3HwIntUY

@tinahanna_@beh353 This sounds really good! I always look forward to eating our traditional dishes on larger holidays! I hope your Thanksgiving was amazing! @beh353#beh353
I always look forward to tamales on Thanksgiving. My mom and grandma always prepare them with banana leaves instead of corn husks and I think it adds so much flavor. @beh353#beh353
@tinahanna_@beh353 I love the idea of making sites easy for kids to understand too! While the parents will be the ones reading them a majority of the time, it can be shared with their children to make them feel included in their eating habits! @beh353#beh353
Making food for your family can be quick and nutritious! It is important not to be overly restrictive when feeding your children, let them enjoy more nutritious versions of their favorite meals. @beh353#beh353

The article is meant for the general public but still provides key information for parents when looking at ways to provide a healthy diet for their kids. I also liked how it categorized recommendations based on age and gender. @beh353#beh353
Healthcare providers will say that diabetes = overweight, however, there are many other factors that can come into play. Examining all aspects is crucial to making patients feel comfortable. Providing them with ways to manage their diabetes and enjoy their holidays is important!

We need to treat all patients equally, no matter their appearance. We should not glaze over an overweight person's symptoms simply because we think their weight is the main issue. We must learn to make diagnoses based on symptoms and not their appearance. @beh353#beh353
@tinahanna_@beh353 I agree with this point! Making someone feel like their illness is directly related to their health can make them feel worse about their situation. We should strive to avoid these kinds of encounters as medical providers. @beh353#beh353
Childhood obesity is not as rare as I had originally thought. Combined with my new knowledge of education levels and obesity, I think it is important that we teach healthy eating habits in schools to boost academic performance and promote healthy lifestyles! @beh353#beh353
Research shows that kids with healthier eating patterns have better academic performance. 🍎🥗

Education levels can be attributed to differences in obesity levels. If an individual has lower levels of education, they are more likely to be obese. We can learn to factor in health disparities (ex: socioeconomic status) to provide healthcare tailored to all.@beh353#beh353
@tinahanna_@beh353 I also found this interesting this week! I feel like for most people making lifestyle changes can be difficult, however, when motivated people can use these changes to help better their health.
@vitamincity1@beh353 I also feel this way. Sometimes it can be difficult to find time. I feel like looking for quick and easy meal prep options can be good for those with a busier schedule!
