I am most looking forward to eating mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. My father is a chef and finds creative ways to spice them up each year. In second place would be cranberry sauce. We add oranges to make it less tart.

@vitamincity1@beh353 I agree that is extremely important to be empathetic to patients of all types. This creates trust in the medical community to provide proper care. Often this advice needs to be given in plain terms for the public to understand.

Wanting to lose weight to improve health and quality of life because you care for & love yourself IS body positivity.
Hating yourself and not caring for yourself is not body positivity. This can look like obsessive dieting/exercise or ignoring your health.

The emotional cost on a person struggling with obesity can be devastating. There are societal pressure to remain thin at all times. For some people, this is extremely difficult due to metabolic diseases. As providers, we cannot uphold this principle.
@beh353#beh353
@TiffanyDan19628@beh353 This is something that needs to be avoided as a provider. Having a bias like this can lead to misdiagnosis’s and a patients mistrust in the medical community.

🌍 A week of outrage: now, it’s time for action
We’ve spent this week shining a spotlight on the global obesity crisis – the rising rates, the economic burden, the impact on low- and middle-income countries, and the lives lost to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) driven by obesity. But this isn’t just a week of outrage – it’s a call to action for the future.
🚨 Obesity: the overlooked crisis
Obesity is one of the most pressing public health emergencies, yet it remains overlooked in global health agendas. It’s time for governments and leaders to stop ignoring this crisis. Nearly 1 billion adults and 159 million children are living with obesity. We cannot afford to wait any longer.
💸 Economic impact of obesity
By 2035, the economic impact of obesity could reach $4.32 trillion annually – comparable to the cost of the COVID-19 pandemic. The longer we wait, the higher the price.
⚖️ A Call to the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs 2025
In one year, world leaders will gather for the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs. We must demand that obesity is recognised as a central issue. Bold policies, clear targets, and real accountability are needed to turn this crisis around.
🚀 The future is now
Together, we can push for comprehensive solutions – from reshaping food systems to breaking the stigma surrounding obesity. We’ve seen success stories from countries that have taken action. Let’s learn from them and create a future where everyone has access to the care they need.
👉 Join us in demanding action. The time for change is now.

Obesity is a crisis and needs to be brought to the world’s attention. Those who are struggling financially are more likely to be obese because healthier food options are unaffordable. This is a sad truth which can lead to increased health problems.

I could not believe how much money in healthcare goes towards obesity. This shows how strong of a prevalence obesity has on the average person. There needs to be more awareness and advice given to those who struggle with weight. This is such an important topic!

@ashleycc406@beh353 This is an unfortunate habit that can leak into adulthood. It is very hard to break a habit that was learned during childhood
