What my friends at ACC say about me: Papa is known to be independent and likes to be where the people are in a home environment but is very fearful and stressed in the shelter and does not currently tolerate touch. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Papa is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because his previous owner reports he enjoys being in rooms where the people are, independent and gives kisses when comfortable in a home environment, we believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, home with adopters who are willing to work with a cat who needs time and patience to help him adjust to their new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

A volunteer writes: I love it when cats knead to themselves. It looks like the most welcoming of kitten greetings, an adorable effort to make friends or a way to show the comfort and happiness they find in their world. Orlando seems to knead as a way of processing some very big feelings and while this makes him look very approachable, Orlando's preferred version of approaching means something a little different in the shelter. We don't know much about his life before the shelter as he was brought to us by police, but Orlando likes when we bring him treats and toys. He's eager to flop over onto his side when we pet him with our scratcher tool, but less so when we pet him with our hands. Orlando would love a chance to meet you and show you his kneads and the love he has in his heart. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

What my friends at ACC say about me: I have lived with cats in my previous home. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life. Rocky tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to his new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

Meet Pear! Pear has had quite the journey. After originally arriving as a stray, he found himself back in our care after spending time surviving outdoors on his own. While all of these changes have left him feeling understandably unsure, Pear has been steadily gaining confidence with the help of patient staff. Beneath his shy exterior is a gentle cat who is beginning to realize that people can be trusted again. My Ideal Home - Pear is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with experienced cat guardians who will give him the time and space he needs to adjust. He'll appreciate a calm environment, cozy hiding spots, and adopters who let him take the lead when it comes to interaction. With patience, routine, and plenty of tasty treats, Pear is likely to continue blossoming into a wonderful companion. Pear is a sensitive cat who needs a calm environment where he can build confidence at his own pace. Slow, gradual introductions would be recommended if resident pets are present. Pear has shown fearful behavior in the shelter but has made encouraging progress over time. While he initially became overwhelmed by touch, he has gradually learned to accept gentle interactions without escalating. He will do best with adopters who understand feline body language, respect his boundaries, and allow him to continue building trust at his own pace in a quiet home. Other Fun Facts - Pear has a soft spot for squeeze-up treats! They have helped him build positive associations with people, and he'll happily come forward for a tasty snack. Staff have loved watching him grow more curious and confident, from cautiously peeking out of his hidey box to gently taking treats from their hands. Every small victory has shown just how much potential this sweet boy has once he feels safe. A volunteer writes: Before we get into everything that happened before, I'd like to please focus on the absolutely charming little cat Pear is now with the caveat that he has no interest in being charming right now. Pear seems to be on a mission to explain that he doesn't love the shelter even if there are some things here that he really does love, which are toys that can be left for him in his beloved box (which, coincidentally, is another thing he loves here). Pear so adorably did not want to play with me, even though I really tried and he didn't even want me to watch him play, which is ok too but also unintentionally very cute. Most recently, Pear walked into someone's backyard and he was pretty happy to be noticed. Though I'm sure he'd say otherwise right now, Pear would love to be noticed once again. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

Paige Williams and her partner ran Fur & Filly petcare in West Midlands. They were entrusted on a professional contract for 4 weeks to look after a families two pets, they singled out one of the dogs little Ayrton, not even two years old.
Kicking, shouting, tethering him to a tree with water just out of his reach, when he playfully jumped at them they proceeded to beat him with a lease.
51 clips of abuse the dogs suffered at the hands of this beast of a woman and her partner.
140 hours community service and 7 year ban, thats what the court thought. So we think that just like obi and his fake pet sitting crays hill pet sitters she deserves to be named in her local community and known as an abuser of innocent animals who cant speak up.
Just imagine how many others shes hurt, whose owners didn't have cameras.

A volunteer writes: Octopus gave birth in a laundromat. I guess, she wanted a clean environment for her brood. She was not allowed to stay and was brought to the Manhattan Care Center with her few days old babies. Octopus was stressed and had a very hard time nursing so the eight babes were placed and fed in an incubator. Octopus remained defensive with her caretakers and not open to having a trusting relationship with them. Lately, Octopus is showing signs that she might want to engage with staff and volunteers. She likes treats and as she spends more time on top of her hiding place than in, I presented her with a tray of high end cat food that I held. She came forward and after some hesitation and back and forth, she ate while I was with caution, petting her(see video). I was not so lucky with feather wands she seemed to be scared of. Nothing really is known about Octopus. Was she a stray, a pet who got out of luck? We all wish Octopus could be given a chance because even if she shows tiny improvements at the care center, being in a quiet home with a compassionate while experienced adopter or foster could be the light at the end of the tunnel for her...Will you be Octopus' hero? ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

Behaviorally, Zack is grumbly and growls, but also leans into petting and allows handling. We suspect the growling is due to discomfort/pain. This evaluation/diagnosis means that ZACK will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. Zack interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience, demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior. Meet Zack! Zack is a gentle, sweet 3-year-old boy who arrived as a stray. Though shy and a bit fearful in new environments, he quickly warms up and loves soft head, cheek, and belly scratches-even making happy paws while being pet! Zack is currently recovering from hip injuries (bilateral hip luxations) and luxating patellas. He is receiving pain management, fluids, and anti-nausea meds while orthopedic treatment plans are finalized. He has a temporary neuter waiver while healing and needs a calm, patient home with an owner who can provide follow-up veterinary care to help him make a full recovery. Zack interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience, demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

The shelter director at Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, CA has just added her to the red list even though there were 40 empty kennels as of Monday, not including whatever is in restricted area. Diamond has also only been at the shelter for 7 days!

A volunteer writes: An injured and older gentleman, Snacks was totally prepared to make his own chance when he'd really been getting anything but. Cheerfully greeting the people he met, quietly imploring them to look at his heart rather than the cuts and growths adorning his distinctively beautiful face. Snacks' efforts paid off, if not the forever home he'd been hoping for, a pathway to one. When I met Snacks, he was doing his little marching kneads right at the front. I opened the door and Snacks promptly flopped over on his catnip pillow and began kneading the sky. I don't know what else to say to convey how amazing Snacks is but I would like to add that cuddling with him is a dream. He's sweet and affectionate, open hearted and hopeful that all of his work is bringing him that much closer to you. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻
