Sharing my journey with #BuildingThinkingClassrooms! Join me as I explore ways to foster critical thinking and problem-solving in young minds. year 3 of BTC!
@DonLagreca hey don. I played your Pythagorean Theorem rant for my middle schoolers before we started the unit on the PT. It really got the interest growing!
@VanyaWright@edudissenter You can’t control it, but many parents look at schools for guidance on a variety of things. This could be one. But I doubt any educator/admin has ever, with consistency, asked parents to direct to apply disciplinary measures at
Home when things happen at school.
Assessed my students today, and I’m thrilled with the results. Their collaboration and vertical learning truly transferred into positive achievement. Seeing their growth reminds me why #BuildingThinkingClassrooms works. #ElementaryEducation#MathTeaching#BTC
@teacher2teacher I have recently been using AI song making apps to make songs that align with our curriculum. Haven’t made any worthy of playing for students but I’ll keep trying lol
Started off rocky today—had to pause and reinforce expectations. But once we reset, the kids created amazing work. Proud of how they turned it around! #BuildingThinkingClassrooms#elementaryeducation
@VanyaWright@edudissenter So through your perspective we shouldn’t care at all what parents are doing to discipline their children? Sure, bad schools throw their hands up and do nothing. Not all schools.
Today was a solid day in the classroom! The kids worked really well and impressed me with the quality of their work. Looking forward to improving the extensions I provide next time. #BuildingThinkingClassrooms#ElementaryEducation#MathTeaching
AI has been a game-changer for helping me write report card comments. It helps me craft personalized feedback for each student quickly and efficiently. Highly recommend for busy teachers! #EdTech#TeacherLife#ReportCards
@edudissenter Oh I 100% agree with you. I’m just saying, the best schools work where you have both. Schools that struggle often battle with inconsistency with consequences at home. What’s worse- a detention, or a loss of privilege for something that they care about at home?
Let’s clear this up: #BuildingThinkingClassrooms is NOT the same as Lucy Calkins. BTC focuses on fostering critical thinking in math through structured problem-solving and collaboration. It’s about enhancing curriculum, not replacing it. #MathEducation#BTC
Our I-Ready Middle of Year Growth was around 72% across my two 2nd grade classes! 🎉 I credit #BuildingThinkingClassrooms for that progress—empowering students to think critically and work collaboratively makes all the difference! #EdChat#MathEducation#TeacherSuccess
