Great to see our paper on why debtor countries are reluctant to participate in sovereign debt moratoria and #debt#relief initiatives in the World Bank Economic Review.

Just back from Uganda. Main event of my stay was the closing conference of our 5-year @VLIRUOS project with @MbararaUST on refugee integration. This was very much in memory of my late colleague @bertingelaere who started the project; and in whose honor the conference took place.
The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in collaboration with the Institute of Development Policy (IOB) at the University of Antwerp, hosted a working session at IOB on 29 February 2024.

BREAKING: China has granted Ethiopia debt relief and is in the process of requesting a similar treatment from other creditors, IMF Africa department deputy director Annalisa Fedelino said on Friday.
Given the @IMFNews-@WorldBank Annual Meetings in #Marrakech, it’s a good time to re-post the summary of our paper discussing what could constraint debtors’ participation in sovereign #debt#relief
🚨 New @cepr_org paper out, with @DannyCassimon and @DennisEssers. Motivated by the delays in sovereign #debt relief resolutions, we discuss a number of ways in which participation in debt relief initiatives can be made more attractive to debtor countries: https://t.co/lRiEBWjp1w
Very sad to see Daniel Cohen has passed away 😢 A real expert on sovereign debt (+ associated crises) and always fun and enlightening to talk to. He will be missed, RIP
