Seoul is an amazing city to live in but it’s been hard to lock in and focus.

It’s super social, great night life, lots of distractions. Gotta fight the urge to just go to Ikseon-dong/Itaewon/Gangnam every day lol

I’ve been spending most of my time the last months reading and writing about geopolitics, and I often have the urge to write and share learnings about it here on X.

But also politics on X is super toxic and I don’t wanna loose my current feed which is just founders and tech 🤔

Seoul City Wall trail

It’s a great hike in central Seoul, uphill but fairly easy, not crowded and really nice views!

The full trial is 18km but the section I did was less than 1 hour

Got it, sounds cool! I guess a pro of Bangkok is also that if you ever have the urge to travel it’s one of the best places to just hop on a plane and go anywhere in Asia.

I really don’t have a plan right now haha. I will travel until Christmas, go back to Germany for a bit and re-evaluate. There is still a lot of places I wanna see but also thinking to stay at least 3-6 months somewhere next year. Probably Bangkok/Seoul/Tokyo

@SeoulJosephK For analytics I find the Firebase/UI terrible, Posthog is somewhat better. Although now you can just use a Claude MCP and let Claude analyze your data so the UI doesn’t really matter and cost is more important

Google Maps is pretty useless in Korea.

It doesn’t even show you walking directions for a place 10min away. And lots of restaurants aren’t on it

I was today’s years old when I found out you can still use old models in Claude Code by passing a —model flag.

Somehow I thought they retired old models to API-only pricing after new releases… This is great because I really liked Opus 4.6 and 4.7 for writing!!

South Korea recently launched their Digital Nomad visa (F-1-D) and I think it’s the second best DN visa in Asia, only behind Thailand’s DTV:

• Requirements are to have a foreign job/company and to prove $66k of annual income (or $37k if you live outside of Seoul)
• You can stay 3 years
• Tax-free on foreign income
• You can also bring spouse and children

And Seoul is an amazing city: great infrastructure and internet, clean, safe, super convenient, great nightlife. And it has a genuine tech/startup scene as well.

I’ll definitely be considering this once I hit the income threshold!
