I’ve been appreciating the morning sun lately. As soon as I wake up, I go straight to the balcony, stand there and just absorb the sunlight. It gives me such warm, calm energy☀️
Simple morning ritual that really sets the tone for the day.
If you’re planning to go to Taiwan soon, save this:
1. If you land on an early morning flight and can’t check in yet, go straight to Beitou. A 90-minute private sulfur hot spring will genuinely resurrect you.
2. Skip Taipei 101 Observatory. Hike Elephant Mountain instead for a better view and some movement.
3. Mango season starts in May and the apple mangoes here are insane. Best one I’ve had in my life.
4. Pineapple cakes are usually cheaper outside Taipei or even at the airport. If you’re only staying in Taipei though, Royal Bakery’s was the best I tried.
5. Pineapple cake is great, but have you tried the 'pomegranate-guava aloe vera sweet dessert drink'? I had one at Pearl Liang and it was genuinely eye-opening.
6. Night markets here hit different because locals actually eat there, not just tourists. My favorite was Raohe. Also worth checking: Shilin, Ningxia, and Tonghua.
7. Everyone talks about Peking duck, but try roast goose too. More local and satisfying.
8. Convenience stores are actually fun to explore (7-Eleven, FamilyMart, OK Mart). You can find instant snacks and all kinds of milk here: papaya milk, apple milk, etc.
9. Jiufen closes earlier than you think. Most shops shut around 7:30pm, so aim to arrive around 4–5pm.
10. Always prepare some cash. Apple Pay doesn’t work on public transport and some restaurants only take cash.
