@Hirald0@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch Slot has had success with a ‘lower intensity’ approach, but in big games against competitive teams, fitness and intensity is still a huge factor (see carabao cup final after 120 mins v PSG).
Curious as to what you think are the other tactical solutions available to teams?
@Hirald0@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch He is very much an outlier though. Ridiculous engine, and elite players around him. Only 10 midfielders aged 31+ have played PL minutes this season; only 5 of them are starters.
The PL is also an outlier in this regard I know, but it’s been the direction of travel for some time
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch Yes you’re right - from the games perspective it has contributed. I meant from the players perspective, it has helped to manage minutes and preserve their fitness.
I just find it strange that the game has stood still for so long. It’ll reach a breaking point eventually imo
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch I’d much rather have smaller squads and less games (or less intense games). We’d see better football on match days.
The subs have alleviated the problem rather than solved it.
But I don’t think the teams have much choice in this at all.
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch It’s a real shame that turning 30 means your days playing at the top level are more than likely over. Purely because of legs.
I think we have to find solutions to make the game less intense, for the overall benefit of the sport going forwards
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch But maintaining intensity correlates hugely with being a successful team. So from the teams perspective, and the fans perspective - it has been a success.
Maybe not for the players as you say - but this is the problem. Who’s looking after their interests?
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch Should matches be shorter? With different timekeeping rules to manage stoppages?
Should pitches be bigger/smaller?
Should goalposts be bigger?
These could be factors that could promote more goals and attacking football.
The current offside law is terrible for the game
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch Yes I agree on the subs - that has been a success. But the flip side is lineups constantly changing = less chemistry and fluidity.
Football should be having open conversations about things to improve the quality of the sport, but I’m not sure it is.
@Zonal_Marking@JH77_LFC@jburnmurdoch Hmm, can you name a successful team that doesn’t play with high intensity?
The game has evolved, due to Klopp and Pep’s success, but the ‘rules’ have not evolved with it.
I get your point, but it’s not “his” style anymore. It’s everywhere.
Now for Group B.

BREAKING - ACC Jenny Sims says 50 people were treated for their injuries. 11 remain in hospital and are all in a stable condition and are “recovering well”. She says an investigation is still ongoing and again urges people not to speculate.
@Charlie90886141@TwisterFlow7@Jake_FutTrading What’s your budget? Cherki is good for 80k, Majri is insane but 170k.
Ridle Baku would be a big upgrade at RB, only 27k
Tolisso the same for Alonso, 42k
