On behalf of the people of Rukiga County and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, M.Afr., upon his appointment by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV as the new Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kabale.

Bishop-elect Gubazire, a son of Kigezi born in Kitumba, returns home after decades of distinguished missionary service across Africa, Europe, and Asia with the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers). His deep pastoral experience, scholarship, and formation work prepare him well to shepherd the faithful of our diocese. We receive his appointment with great joy and pledge our full support and prayers as he assumes this noble calling.

I also pay glowing tribute to Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, who has led the Diocese of Kabale with exceptional dedication for 23 years since 2003. Under his stewardship, the diocese registered remarkable growth in pastoral work, education, healthcare, and social development, touching countless lives across the Kigezi sub-region. We thank him for his selfless and exemplary service, and we wish him a peaceful, blessed, and fulfilling retirement.

May the Holy Spirit guide Bishop-elect Gubazire as he begins his episcopal ministry, and may God abundantly reward Bishop Rubaramira for his labour in the Lord's vineyard.
