Two things about "IQ curves." (1) They don't look like that. Psychometricians create tests to get the curves they want. (2) The implicit assumption is that the curves have a strong genetic component. Otherwise, they provide evidence that environments should be greatly improved.
And now we get to see the great whitewashing of Cofnas. As someone who strongly believes that Cofnas should keep his postdoc position, I agree that it's worth revisiting what he's actually argued. Let's take a look ... 1/

Friends, the problem of statistics is that even if they worked (they don't), whatever is derived statistically ONLY applies to groups never to single individuals.
You are not hiring a subcontinent, but a single individual. Variance determines the max.
This is a good letter. Cofnas shouldn't be fired (and it appears he will not be). Cofnas is a deeply unoriginal thinker and a sloppy researcher; his recruitment is an embarrassment. But once hired, he has a right to academic freedom of expression.
