@jimofayr Maybole looks sadly run down these days. But it's just got a shiny new bypass, so maybe it will help it to pick up a little as it is a wonderful, historic place.
The gatehouse of Crossraguel Abbey, near Maybole in Ayrshire. Founded in the 13th century by Duncan, 1st Earl of Carrick. It is halfway between Paisley and Whithorn on the pilgrims' trail to the shrine of St Ninian.

Monreith House, built by William Maxwell in 1791 and currently in the news due to its impending sale and auction of its contents. A great shame this could not have been saved for the good of the region.

@silverhills64 Yes, it's like magic land around Monreith! I have a notion about a lost prehistoric ritual landscape centred around the Fell of Barhullion.
The Maze at Gelston Castle as the sun sinks towards the horizon. Completed c.1805 by William Douglas (a plantation owner, rumoured to have amassed his fortune by privateering), near Castle Douglas in Galloway.

@silverhills64 It's a bit hidden away and not really publicised. You can park near Gelston Community Centre and walk down a nice woodland path opposite the war memorial.
