* Football can’t come “home” if you didn’t invent it in the first place! *
Unrelated note, I’ve been to Spain 4 separate times on holiday (and one stopover in Madrid), practically local.

On 30 November 1872, players representing Scotland and England met at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground to contest the first ever official international match.
This was the game that sparked international football.

A thorough overview of @glasgow_sugar’s research on the formative role slavery and the Atlantic economy played in the making of Scottish capitalism by @NeilMackay which also explores its contemporary political implications. Well worth your time. https://t.co/GrolEwaoCJ
Unsure why people are trying to rehabilitate him like he’s their pal? Guy in my profile picture, James II, stabbed the Earl of Douglas to death in cold blood but I still think he’s an interesting bloke. Just maybe don’t go to any dinner parties he invites you to🤷♂️ 2/2 #RichardIII
Might as well weigh in for the craic; evidence points in one direction as far as I can see and that is squarely on Richard III having the Princes in the tower murdered. Looks bad in hindsight but obviously politically intelligent move 1/2

Happy 120th birthday @HampdenPark!
Scotland's national stadium opened its doors for the first time 120 years ago today as @queensparkfc defeated @CelticFC 1-0. It was the largest stadium in the world from 1908 to 1950, hosting many important games.
This #BlackHistoryMonth we recognise those who have left their mark on Scottish footballing history.

So let's to another film review, a live one, I'll tweet as I watch so it will take a while to finish it, you may want to come back to this thread later.
I'll be watching 'Outlaw King' (2018).
There will be spoilers and annoying complaining.

@Oldfirmfacts1 Looks like it's still open under new ownership right enough. Was shut the last time I was in the area in 2021 but must have been during the changeover. That's good know!
Honestly haven't stopped smiling reading everyone's tweets about Scotland qualifying. Our generation haven't really had this a lot so it feels magical. HWFG.
When we talk about Scotland’s links to slavery we usually mean tobacco, sugar and cotton. But later industry often relied on capital from slavery

@JamieStoddart@rpatz9@DavidOlusoga I was just making a joke on my long running upset with the treatment of Scottish regnal numbers. Watched the first two episodes and think it does really well in highlighting important aspects of the union’s history in a relatively short runtime.
I really like @DavidOlusoga but this latest documentary on the union has gone too far…
it’s King James VII & II and King William III & II !!!
Don’t even get me started on post 1707 regnal numbers…
