Yeah, the petition might not make any difference at all, and let’s be real, they rarely do. So let’s set expectations properly: zero expectations are the best expectations. That way you can only be surprised, not disappointed.

But at the same time, if you NEVER make any effort, then nothing will change for sure. That’s guaranteed.

And honestly, this goes way beyond Destiny 2. This is just life in general. A lot of us get lazy or feel like certain things “won’t matter” anyway, so we don’t vote, we don’t speak up, we don’t bother taking action because we think one person can’t make a difference. But that kind of mindset is exactly how huge decisions and bad outcomes happen.

I never really talk politics, and I’m not trying to get into that here at all as everyone’s got their own views and this community is our escape from all that outside-world nonsense. But the point is: if people care about something, they should at least try to stand up for it.

So if someone wants to fight for the Destiny franchise, this is one way to do it. It takes like a minute. Maybe it changes nothing… maybe it does. But if nobody speaks up or shows support for what they believe in, then absolutely nothing will ever change. That’s the only guaranteed outcome.

Worth trying. Zero expectations. Best expectations.

Listen… I don’t think this is the end of Destiny.

Destiny 2? Yeah, sure - it feels like it’s time to say goodbye to regular updates and the game as we’ve known it.

But carefully read what Bungie has posted… I think we’ll hear about Destiny again in the future.

In what form? I don’t know.

But they’ve definitely chosen their words carefully.

Oh man that is kinda sad to read, so many great memories, so many amazing people I have met over the years, so grateful for all the friendships I have built that I have dropped a tear reading this.

Thank you @DestinyTheGame for building those amazing worlds, Destiny has truly changed my life.

Deep down I hope the franchise will continue somehow, one can only hope ❤️

For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.

As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.

Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.

We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.

From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
