The world has lost a songwriter whose music refused to stay inside one genre.

Dolly Parton, the country music legend whose career spanned more than six decades, has passed at 80.

Parton became one of country music’s most celebrated figures. But her influence reached far beyond Nashville.

In 1992, Whitney Houston took Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” and turned it into a record-breaking global phenomenon, spending 14 weeks at No. 1 and creating one of the most unforgettable vocal performances of all time.

More than three decades later, on Beyoncé’s history-making COWBOY CARTER, Parton introduced “Jolene” before Beyoncé completely reimagined the country classic on her own terms.

Today, we remember the woman behind the rhinestones, the songwriter behind the standards and a catalog that will keep finding new voices for generations to come.

We will always love you, Dolly Parton.
