Those mega profits the oil companies are raking in should be paying for all the firefighting costs, rebuilding costs, compensation and damages to all the individuals and communities lost to fires. #ClimateCatastrophe#Kelownafire#NWTWildFire#adamslakefire
@ryanjespersen catching the podcast on my way home from work. Re: gas leaf blowers, those 2 stroke engines are so polluting I’ve read that operating one for 30 minutes has the same emissions as driving a F150 from LA to Anchorage. All 2-strokes should be banned everywhere.
I'm re-upping this story on #nationalhousingday.
A reminder that our housing system wasn't always broken and we can choose to do things differently. https://t.co/0cHHJj0GdC
Traditional approaches to taming inflation fail to address a key factor in rising prices: corporate profiteering.
Last month, @rakeen_mabud joined the Building Local Power podcast to explain how rising prices = rising profits for shareholders.

First, the building blocks of the energy revolution
>Solar as a primary energy source is 250% more efficient than coal
>A heat pump is 300% more efficient than a gas boiler
>An electric vehicle is 400% more efficient than an ICE

Three key things EVERYONE needs to know:
1. This is still just merest beginnings of climate breakdown
2. It's irreversible, best we can do is halt it at whatever level it gets to
3. It's caused by the fossil fuel industry, which has been lying and blocking action for decades
You Conservatives can ask Pierre Poilievre who has a Gold plated pension plan, dental, and childcare on the taxpayer payroll, why he doesn't want you to have these things. He is not one of us hardworking Canadians. He is a career politician that doesn't think you'll notice.
We have been dragged so deep into a climate crisis unprecedented in millions years and yet to totally manifest itself in reality, that no amount of renewable energy will fix this
We need to save all existing forests and wetland and restore those destroyed and end economic growth
There’s a lot of misunderstanding around #Degrowth, with many confusing it for collapse.
But degrowth is the OPPOSITE of collapse, it’s a path that could see humans and nature flourishing.
It’s a word every human should understand.
We still see funding for coal & fossil fuels from some of the biggest names in finance, hedge funds & private equity.
Investing in fossil fuels is a dead end – economically & environmentally.
No amount of greenwashing or spin can change that. Don’t work for climate-wreckers.
My message boils down to "this is far worse than you think and elites are asleep at the wheel, but it's not too late to fight like hell for our kids and this wonderful planet and it never will be." I'll always be looking for ways to amplify it.
Folks, with Earth breakdown this bad, science so clear, and politicians and CEOs still hellbent on expanding fossil fuels, there is only one conclusion left to reach: the people in charge are mad sociopaths. My brain keeps searching for other conclusions but there are none.
Pass it on…
Capitalism keeps us busy, stressed and distracted while our world is exploited to breaking point in the pursuit of futile, never-ending economic growth.
A lot of people are saying "it's too late" and this is absolutely incorrect. We must fight for every fraction of a degree. The hotter the planet gets, the worse for all, there's never a "too late" point. So let's get going.
Climate activists are sometimes depicted as dangerous radicals.
But the truly dangerous radicals are the countries that are increasing the production of fossil fuels.
Investing in new fossil fuels infrastructure is moral and economic madness.
Maybe if the IPCC report had slapped someone at the Oscars more people would be interested in the fact our civilization is in free fall & our planet will soon be unlivable.
